Terms of Use

This is a translation provided for convenience. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.

1. Purpose

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Mysterpiece mobile application (the “App”), an art culture game in which players try to identify a work of art by asking questions answered by an artificial intelligence system. By downloading or using the App, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.

The App is published by the person identified in the legal notice (the “Publisher”).

2. Access to the App

The App can be used without an account, in guest mode. In that case your progress is stored only on your device and may be lost if you delete the App or change devices.

Some features (saving your gallery, leaderboards, the Artists’ Salon) require an account. You can create one with an email address and password, or with “Continue with Apple” or “Continue with Google”.

3. Minimum age

The App is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you live in France and are between 13 and 15, creating an account requires the consent of a parent or legal guardian. In other countries, the age at which a minor may consent alone is set by local law.

4. Your account

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your password confidential.
Your account is personal: you may not share or transfer it.
You are responsible for activity on your account. If you notice unauthorized access, contact us immediately at mysterpieceapp@gmail.com.

5. Artist name

Your artist name is visible to other players, in particular in the Salon and on leaderboards. Your real name is never displayed, including when you sign in with Apple or Google. Your artist name must not:

be insulting, hateful, discriminatory, obscene or violent;
impersonate another person or suggest an affiliation with the Publisher;
reproduce a protected trademark or contain another person’s personal data.

The Publisher may change or remove an artist name that breaks these rules.

6. Game rules and conduct

You agree to play fairly. The following are prohibited in particular:

cheating, using scripts, bots or automated tools, and deliberately exploiting bugs;
entering unlawful, hateful or harassing content, or other people’s personal data, in your questions;
attempting to bypass the App’s protections, disrupt its operation or extract its content at scale;
creating multiple accounts to distort leaderboards.

In case of a breach, the Publisher may, depending on its severity, remove points, suspend or delete the account concerned, after informing you where possible.

7. AI-generated answers

Answers to your questions during a game are generated automatically by an artificial intelligence system. They may occasionally be inaccurate or wrong, and are provided for entertainment.

Editorial content (artwork pages, “Did you know?” facts) is written from identified sources and carefully checked. If you spot a mistake, please report it via the Support page and we will correct it.

8. Free offer, subscriptions, in-app purchases and advertising

The App is free to download and use. In addition, it may offer:

subscriptions giving access to additional content or features (for example certain art periods, game modes or an ad-free experience);
one-time in-app purchases (content, packs or game benefits);
advertising, which helps fund the free version.

Price and payment

The price, duration and content of each offer are shown in the App before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) account when you confirm the purchase. Billing and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms.

Subscription renewal and cancellation

Unless stated otherwise, a subscription renews automatically for the same period at the current price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple or Google account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. If a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription when it ends unless cancelled before then. Deleting the App or your account does not automatically cancel a subscription.

Right of withdrawal

Digital content you purchase is provided immediately after purchase. By confirming a purchase, you request this immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal, under the conditions set by law and by the purchasing platform.

Purchased content

Purchased content and benefits are tied to your account and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money. Purchases can be restored on a new device with the same Apple or Google account, using the “Restore purchases” option where available.

Advertising

Ads may be shown in the free version. Whether they are personalized depends on your choices, described in the Privacy Policy. The Publisher is not responsible for the content of third-party sites or apps an ad may link to.

9. Intellectual property

The App, its name, logo, design, texts and code are protected and belong to the Publisher. Any reproduction or reuse without permission is prohibited.

The artworks featured in the game are in the public domain. Their photographic reproductions come mainly from Wikimedia Commons and are used in accordance with their licenses. The source and license of any reproduction are available on request.

10. Availability and changes

The Publisher strives to keep the App available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The App may be interrupted for maintenance, and its features may change (artworks, game modes or scoring rules may be added or removed).

11. Liability

The Publisher shall not be liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the App, or for the loss of progress in guest mode. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have under applicable law, in particular as a consumer.

12. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the App: Profile → Delete my account. Deletion is permanent and removes your gallery, scores and rank. How your data is handled after deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated. You will be notified in the App of any significant change. Continuing to use the App means you accept the new version.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If a problem arises, please contact us first at mysterpieceapp@gmail.com to seek an amicable solution. Failing that, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
